7 Things I Can’t Live Without

Hey guys!

So, I’m going to talk about the 7 things I absolutely cannot live without aside from necessities like clothes, food, water, shelter, etc.

  1. Brow Pencil-I have lived for 16 years having non-existent brows and I refuse to go back.
  2. Phone-I have lived a week without a phone and I can say that it was so hard because I realized that I’d have to find some other way to set an alarm, set reminders, check my email throughout the day, check social media-some of which do not have a desktop version, and aside from all that, I had to coordinate times so that I could get home-and let me tell you it is damn hard when I do not own a watch. But for convenience sake, this must be on the list.
  3. Hair straightener (or even a brush)-In the morning I look like a crazy person, enough said about that.
  4. Laptop-I can’t write all my blog posts from my phone-there would be more spelling errors than actual words.
  5. Hangers-wrinkles are like… evil.
  6. Glasses-I’m blind. This should be at the top of the list, right? But I can survive without them, I would just have a 50% chance of falling with every step.
  7. A good pair of heels- I cannot live without a pair-especially one that can match anything.

I was going to make it a list of 10 things, but I really couldn’t think of anything else.

ART

hEY guys! So I’m going to talk about my creative journey through the years.

I went through phases during high school when I needed a creative outlet. My first was scrapbooking and I loved it. Rather I loved the idea of it. I made scrapbooks for all my friends-a journey of our friendship. I had bought half the craft store because I went into a creative frenzy. But it didn’t last, I spent so much time on these that I had no time to do anything else.

So, I moved onto other things like fashion design, I loved the idea that I wore only things that I made. It was fun for around two years until I really couldn’t afford to this during school. I made a lot of clothes but I just don’t wear them anymore mostly because of style change. But during this period, not only did I make my own clothes but I also made my own jewelry and accessories-made a lot of random things into earrings (Christmas time was fun because I got really creative). You know, Halloween is my favorite holiday and it was my love of creating that made that year’s Halloween really special. I love dressing up and playing a character. But I had to move on because to be frank I lost a lot of motivation to just sit down for hours and create.

I’ve also delved into nail art and makeup just because it was something small and not as time consuming as the other things.

But, more recently I’ve been loving taking photos, glamour shots. Its fun to take pictures for yourself. I am still in this photography phase (hopefully it’s not just a phase). I take a lot of photos with a Nikon and I use the self-timer settings because I’ve always believed that the only one who would know what I want was myself. So, it adds an extra step but its totally worth it.

Blogging is something that I’ve come to love because its therapeutic for myself. I like writing about my experiences and sharing details about me that a lot of my friends don’t know.

I would consider myself more of a jack of all creative trades rather than a master at something specific. I’m not the best designer, seamstress, photographer, artist, writer or scrapbooker but I would consider myself to be somewhat competent at these arts.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF ME

POWER

Hey guys!

[storytime] So on Monday, I was driving to get lunch and there was this highway patrol car in front of me and it was a red light so I stopped behind this car. The light was taking a while since there was a lot of traffic (it was lunchtime) and the patrol car ran the red light. Now, I know that there are exceptions to traffic laws for police and law enforcement when there’s an emergency; but, there was no visible reason-from what I could see- to run the light other than impatience. There was no one speeding because of the high traffic, no car crash, no fire, etc. So, it was a really mind-boggling experience.

Now, I don’t know if it was legal of the person to run that light. I don’t know traffic laws in regards to law enforcement but, it didn’t seem that legal to me. Does anyone know?

So that story was a precursor to the main topic of this post.

Abraham Lincoln once said, “Nearly all men can withstand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”

We all know that once given power, people change. Some become arrogant. Some make rash decisions. It’s in our nature. I am a huge bibliophile, I love books, I love stories. I love reading about people. An author is good when they are able to fully capture the vulnerability and rawness of being human. A lot of books I read are in the fantasy/mystery genres and its in those books where I’ve learned half of what I know about people. People who are given any kind of power often misuse it-that’s a fact (misuse is subjective I agree). But, the actions they take, are often not ‘good.’

Power corrupts, but how it corrupts is different for everybody. Someone who is in law enforcement-they are given power to make sure that the law is obeyed. This given power has them believing they are the law-and that’s corruption of their character. But this is a generalized example, obviously there are exceptions. Not everyone realizes their own power, and some who do-they realize the danger and their potential. Fame and influence is a power, some don’t realize the potential of that and those that do, they recognize the potential profit and future success that is possible or they choose to use that influence to help others. Any young person in this day and age will recognize the power of media and technology. It’s all about perspective-how you see the world.

(I had this whole post planned but it all went out of the window as soon as I started typing-I get lost in my own head sometimes.)

DAY7

Hey guys! It’s the last day of my a-post-a-day challenge!

I don’t really have much to talk about really. At least, not that I can think of. So, I’ll talk about how my weekdays usually go.

-Monday & Wednesday & Friday-

[6:30] Wake up and check social media and do my daily “sweet nothings”-basically daily quotes

[7:00] Get ready for the day

[7:45] Check emails

[8:00] Do some reading

[10:00] Research for my blog + listen to music

[From 8:00-10:00] I might also be running errands and doing other random stuff-or even just getting Starbucks

[11:30] Eat lunch

[12:45] Go pick up my sister (the most time-consuming part of my day)

[1:40] Start prewriting posts for my blog or take a nap

[4:00] Wait obsessively by the front door waiting for the mailperson to come-because they changed the mailperson and they come at random times now

[4:30] Find something to do until mum comes home

[6:15] Eat dinner with family

[7:30] Laze around and catch up on shows if I have to

[9:30] If I procrastinated writing blog posts-which I usually do (doing now), I finish them up

[10:30] Bedtime
